Spoiler Warning! This page contains major spoilers for FF7 Remake and Rebirth, as well as the original FF7 (particularly the final portions of the game).
Speculation Bingo
This bingo was made on September 8th, 2024 before any trailers for Part 3 are out. I'm not going to watch any trailers for the next game (I watched all the Rebirth trailers before playing RIP), so hopefully this page will be a bit of a time capsule for when the game releases.
I've found that staying signed out of youtube, automatically clearing history, and not searching up FF videos (or watching them from duckduckgo's video tab) kept me from being spoiled from video thumbnails. If you're having issues getting spoilers from any games, I recommend trying the same!
I also didn't want to put this in the bingo, but let the record show that I think they are gunning for a 2027 release (30th anniversary of the original, 7th anniversary of the remake).
Speculation Part 3 Areas
Areas cut from Part 2
Rocket Town
Most of the elements from the first Rocket Town visit have already been covered in Rebirth: an introduction to Cid, the Palmer boss fight, and the Tiny Bronco. I don't see the party going to Rocket Town twice, so I'm inclined to believe Shera and the space sequence will be shuffled into one trip (with bits of Cid's backstory in other places, like maybe when the party gets the Highwind).
Bone Village
I wouldn't be surprised if Bone Village was fused to another section (such as the Ancient Forest) or cut entirely. Not much of note happens here, and Rebirth has archeology and digging mini-games in spades.
Areas (presumably) to be in Part 3
Icicle Inn
Barring any "cold open", the Icicle Inn section makes the most sense as the starting area. The Great Glacier and Gaea's cliff make up a hefty chunk of gameplay in the original without much plot. Cloud's issues, the black robes, and Sephiroth's goals, and tutorial battles could easily be inserted without massive changes. Bits of Aerith's backstory and the Turks already show up here in the original, so those elements could also be reintroduced and expanded.
Whirlwind Cave
While I can see wanting the Temple of the Ancients as the final dungeon and not extending the finale any longer, it's still narratively strange Rebirth didn't end with Whirlwind Cave. This arc would be a heavy place to start right away, but I hope it isn't pushed too far back as Meteor really changes the tone of the world and kicks off many of the events in the final act of the game. It would also feel strange if the party stalled too much after the death of their friend.
Junon Execution Escape
One of my favorite parts of the original game! Rebirth already does an excellent job with the split-party/solo dungeons, so I can't wait to see what they do here. It's also a fairly natural place to add a new party member, so maybe this is where Cid or Vincent (or Zack?) properly joins.
Mideel/Lifestream Sequence
At this point events would be easy to shuffle around, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wrap up the Mideel/Lifestream arc quicker to get Cloud and Tifa back in the party as fast as possible
The Lifestream sequence in particular could have quite a bit added, as Cloud partially remembers Zack and is likely in denial of Aerith's death. Additionally, Tifa saw Whisper and Sephiroth shenanigans back in Rebirth. If Zack did not end up in the same world* as the party at the end of Rebirth, then he could join here if he travels through the Lifestream again (if he joins the party at all).
*We know for sure most of Rebirth happens in the Beagle Stamp world, as shown by the Stamp cutout in Junon and the Stamp plush in Johnny's hotel. The plush you can definitely revist any time before the point of no return. That said, in the Temple of the Ancients, we see a scene of Aerith and Cloud falling into the big hole, which Cloud presumes kills them. After Aerith's dream date, the same sequence plays, except Cloud pulls Aerith up and they both make it back to solid ground. We don't see any Stamps in the party's world after that point, so ending up in a different world isn't completely off the table. Watch me be completely off base about this lol.
Corel Train
[Reminder to double check around Corel for train (not minecart!) tracks, but not much else to say]
Fort Condor
[Insert picture of Condor Island here] Hey, we already got our island! Likely to be tied to the Crow's Nest, and probably not just a board game this time.
Underwater Junon
Again, not much to say. The Forgotten Capital looked incredible in Rebirth, so I can't wait to see this one.
Rocket Launch
Everything I wanted to say was pretty much covered in the Rocket Town section above. I do wonder if Cid will become the proper "party leader" after Tifa leaves or if the party selection and direction will be more open. Cid got very little time to shine in Rebirth and wasn't involved in important story beats the same way Vincent was. It would feel a bit awkward if he became leader without some seriously convincing writing in Part 3.
Wutai
The Wutai visit could happen at practically anytime in the game, but I'm betting on at the end of the Huge/Magnus Materia quests. The Wutai war subplot has be heavily tied to the magnus materia in Rebirth, and it gives Yuffie materia to steal without crippling the party's setup. It would also more obviously benefit Wutai than a bunch of random materia. This was definitely one of the sidequests that could have used a little more fleshing out in the original, so looking forward to seeing it expanded here.
Forgotten Capital Second Trip
This is where the party learns about Aerith casting Holy in the original, so it seems like a good spot to explain what happened to her at the end of Rebirth. More importantly, the White Materia doesn't turn green in Rebirth. This raises some questions about who will cast Holy, if it gets cast at all. Will it be Aerith brought back to life? Aerith from the Lifestream? Cloud with that clear materia? Or something else entirely?
The Forgotten Captial was beautiful in Rebirth, and I hope to explore more of it in Part 3. I also wonder if we'll see more of the Sleeping Forest. Perhaps it will be merged with the Ancient Forest?
Return to Midgar
Another favorite section of mine. My only gripe with the original is that the Bombing Mission music doesn't continue into the battles (which is something they've been doing for the entirety of the Remake trilogy so far. so.)
In keeping with sprinking the details of the Nibelheim truth into the main cutscenes instead of locking it to optional, hidden dialouge, this would be a good point for Hojo to reveal the Cloud and Zack experimentation. Hojo already knows what's up with Cloud, and he's the kind of asshole to rub it in his face. I doubt this reveal would happen in the Lifestream sequence, as it would be a bit of a downer in a scene that is supposed to convey that Cloud can and has kicked Sephiroth's ass.
It's also worth mentioning that Rebirth ends with Zack in Midgar, without any Stamps indicating the world he's in. I'm also curious as to the discrepency between the ending of Remake and the destruction described on the Kalm radio.
Northern Crater
Not much to say here either. Both Remake and Rebirth went off the rails at the end of the game, so this dungeon could get pretty wild. To be fair though, Northern Crater already was kind of a crazy dungeon to begin with.
Vincent Sidequest
Not sure where else to put this, but Vincent's story arc in the original was painfully rushed. Considering how much his backstory is entangled with the Shinra scientist lore, I really hope it get's some love in Part 3. I would predict a Dirge of Cerberus reference, but I wouldn't be able recognize one if I see it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Emerald and Ruby Weapon Fights
[insert posters of Emerald/Ruby vacation posters] The Weapons were already pretty heavily hinted at, so that will be a fun time. Sephiroth Reborn had Cloud climb on him, so maybe that's how the party will fight the Weapons...? I also want to know the deal with the Lifestream fish. They didn't seem aggressive and don't really look like any of the Weapons from the original.
More of a random thought than actual prediction, but maybe the Weapons will be fought as story bosses rather than super bosses. Those fish had the Magnus Materia IN them after all, and Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon are pretty close to Underwater Junon and Corel respectively...
